Standard and Canon of Ethics

Standards

Let it be known that all S.I.R.s members pledge the following to be true to their business practices and adhere to the following:

Prompt in providing services when requested to do so.

Professional in business dealings with the public, customers, associates, and subcontractors.

Reliable, letting the customer know you will be there for them.

Reasonable in pricing and expectations. Knowing that quality of product and customer satisfaction are primary goals.

Conscientious to do the job right the first time and to take pride in the workmanship.

Committed to improving the overall quality of the industry.

Ethical in business practices. Knowing that cooperation within the industry is the only way to advance the industry.

Expeditious in time service. Knowing that delays in providing services can result in large losses to the end client and degrades the overall quality of the industry.

Members Further Agree Accordingly

To Uphold the Following:

Accepted work shall be completed within time frames established by the customer. Members agree to notify their customer under adverse circumstances and provide an estimated due date to their customer.

Accepted work shall be completed and documented appropriately with the correct date, describing as best known the correct property, and the description being in as full detail as possible, especially as pertains to hazards, at the time of the inspection.

All information received as a result of Field Service Requests will be held in the utmost confidence; shall not be disclosed to any third party for purposes other than to complete said requests; and shall not be used as a vehicle to obtain work in any other field the that member may be involved in.

Members will strive to complete all work in a manner that meets or exceeds all local, state and federal laws and regulations including those set forth by the United States Departments of Housing and Urban Development, Veterans’ Affairs, the Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac Foundations and/ or any other regulatory commissions which may have an interest in the subject property.

Members agree to personally perform all accepted work requested of them. If members do not personally perform such work, members agree to: oversee such work as is completed by any subcontractor hired by members; provide such subcontractor with appropriate information to complete work to standards set forth in the S.I.R.s FIELD MANUAL and any additional requirements of customer or government agency; and ensure that the subcontractor follows all standards set forth by S.I.R.s and/ or customer and government agency.

Interviews and evictions shall be conducted in a courteous, non-abusive and non-threatening demeanor.

Property preservation is intended to preserve the value of the property and will be completed timely and professionally. Training will be sought in any area that lacks proficiency.

In striving towards a more professional industry members will correct any flaws found in member's work without hesitation, to the best of member's ability, to satisfy any local, state or federal guidelines or customer complaint.

Contracts are sacred and will be honored whether verbal or written. Verbal contracts will be followed up on with written contracts to avoid misunderstanding.

Agreements for hire are between the contractor and the vendor exclusively. They are not contingent upon any third party that may have originated the request. Payments to vendors, especially subcontractors, should be paid within a reasonable time frame being defined as "no more than 30 days after invoice".

Members are businesses and as such will carry and protect their businesses with appropriate business insurance.
