These pages are to help our industry become a known industry. Presently, very few people are aware that we exist; that we provide our services as independent representatives; or that we are an actual industry.
Frequently, police want to arrest us. Homeowners slam doors in our faces and order us off their properties. Retailers and commercial property owners are suspicious of us.
The bankers and national servicers know who we are but perceive us to be both extremely well paid and a necessary element they must endure.
We are people. We are businessmen and women. We take our business seriously. On a per job basis, we are neither well paid nor do we appreciate this strained relationship that has developed. S.I.R.s members consider themselves to be professionals at what they do. Many representatives have a college education and are licensed professionals in other fields.
S.I.R.s founders have been working to educate other businesses about our industry. We have done that in order to make our needs and buying power known. Until now, lock manufacturers had no idea that we purchase voluminous amounts of locks per year. Hotels did not know that we stay in their facilities sometimes on a "several days per week" basis. Car rental facilities had no idea that we rent cars monthly.
